Overview of the Chinese ATW Heat Pump Market in 2015
Despite decelerated economic growth in 2015, China has seen rapid development in its ATW heat pump market, generating robust 4.9% year-on-year growth. The sales volume amounted to 1,035,000 units.
As for ATW heat pumps in China, household units accounted for 69%, and commercial units accounted for 31% of sales. For household units, those with 150 liter water storage ac-counted for 50.2% of sales, 200 liter water storage accounted for 36.3%, and other models accounted for the remaining 18.7%.
China is the world’s largest ATW heat pump market. As a clean technology, ATW heat pumps boast huge market potential with strong support and encouragement from the government. Also, the rising standard of living has boosted demand for hot water supply. Development of household ATW heat pumps has been closely related to the real estate market. Many consumers in cities now consider that a water heater is a necessity when moving into a new apartment. The sales volume of ATW heat pumps in China accounted for 3% of total water heater sales. In China, ATW heat pumps are not only used for household and commercial applications, but also benefit from an expanding application scale ranging from hot water supply alone to low-temperature heating, heat pump drying, and specific industrial applications. More household and commercial products have been developed, including co-generation, tri-generation, and even gas wall-mounted boilers, along with solar energy coupling. The application scale of ATW heat pumps has continued to expand.
