Argentina is the second largest air conditioner market in Latin America. Its market scale in 2015 was estimated at more than 1.5 million units, representing a 5.0% year-on-year decrease. However, the demand for RAC, PAC, and VRF type units is expected to rise in the future due to increased construction of high-rise buildings and higher temperatures, mainly in urban areas.
Air conditioners are mainly sold through retail stores in Argentina. Fravega, Megatone, Radio Victoria, and Garbarino are some of the leading retailers in the country.
In the past, U.S. brands were dominant, but now Korean and Chinese brands are expanding their presence in Latin America. A large number of OEM air conditioners supplied by Chinese manufacturers including Gree, Midea, and TCL are available in the market. Exports of air conditioners from China to Argentina reached 1.9 million units in 2015, representing year-on-year growth of 18.8%.
