The Iraq air conditioner market decreased 1.8% from 2014 to 2015 due to increasing political and economic challenges.
The local market was dominated by Chinese manufacturers. According to Haier, over 1 million air conditioner units were exported from China to Iraq, indicating slight year-on-year growth. Due to sanctions on Iran several years ago, foreign companies have found it very difficult to export products to Iran. A large number of air conditioners have been re-exported to Iran from boundaries of Iraq, Turkey, and Jordan. Many air conditioners exported from China to Iraq are re-exported to Iran.
The Qatar air conditioner market saw 2.8% year-on-year growth in 2015 while Oman and Kuwait saw 12.1% and 10.2% growth respectively.
