The UK’s GDP growth is currently around 2.5% and will remain at this level for the next few years. Inflation stays at near zero and construction output will start growing from the current year. A great deal of these developments will be centered on the London area. Although the principal destination of air conditioning has always been the commercial sector, more recently it has become the add-on luxury touch in high-end apartments in cities and large executive-style town houses. At the moment the penetration of air conditioning is around 45% in commercial buildings and just under 5% in residences.
The overall leader in the air conditioning products market is Daikin closely followed by Mitsubishi Electric. Toshiba Carrier also has an important role.
