1. World Air Conditioner Market
Major global air conditioner markets, such as China, the United States, and Latin America, showed unsatisfactory performance in 2015. JARN estimates world air conditioner demand at nearly 101.8 million units, dropping 3.7% year on year. This represents the biggest decline since 2012.
Macro economy control and unfavorable weather conditions resulted in an 8.7% year-on-year decline in China’s air conditioner market, with market scale dropping to 38.0 million units. Blind production expansion led to huge inventory. Online purchase turned out to be an effective means of absorbing inventory. However, hot on-line sales also made cheap goods popular. During the May and October holidays in 2015, sales at large home appliance chain stores were rather slow. Large inventory found new opportunities and poured into overseas markets. According to China Customs, the air conditioner export volume decreased by 5.4%, and the average price fell by 0.8%.
