On July 16, Daikin gave an inspection tour of its Shiga Plant, to which a JARN reporter was invited with about 20 other members of the press.
Shiga Plant serves as a core facility for development and production of residential air conditioners. Constructed in November 1970 on a site of about 276,000 m2 in Kusatsu City, Shiga Prefecture, it manufactures residential air conditioners and water heaters plus a limited number of commercial air conditioners. Its major product lines cover residential air conditioners, residential multi-split air conditioners, commercial air conditioners for store applications, home-use air purifiers, and Eco Cute water heaters. Its annual total production comes to about one million units, and a total of about 1,400 workers.
