-- Visit to Daikin Australia
Localized production in Australia has become increasingly challenging in recent years with the strong Australian dollar and high labor costs. Auto industry giants including GM and Toyota have taken the step of withdrawing from local production. In the air conditioning industry, however, global leader Daikin is standing firm amid this challenging climate and choosing development along a different path. A JARN reporter visited Daikin Australia in the Southern Hemisphere to investigate its strategy.
Daikin Australia is located in Chipping Norton, about an hour’s drive by car from central Sydney in the state of New South Wales. There, Shoji Uehara, Managing Director, and Robert Beggs, General Manager, Manufacturing, met with JARN.
