A Japanese trade newspaper recently reported that Daikin would begin production of residential energy-saving air conditioners in Turkey. The company has installed a production line for energy-saving units at a factory of the major local manufacturer Airfel, which Daikin purchased last summer, and aims to produce 200,000 units a year by 2015.
Daikin intends to utilize the local manufacturer not only as a sales base for Turkey, whose economy continues to grow, but also as a base of exports to neighboring countries including parts of Africa and Europe.
Daikin purchased Airfel last summer and has renamed it Daikin Turkey. It is the second largest air conditioner manufacturer in Turkey.
