1. Role of VRF Systems in France
After years of sustained growth, sales of VRF systems in France fell in 2012 but still represent a substantial market at nearly 15,000 external units. Refurbishment accounts for two thirds of the demand but take-up in the new build sector remains slow, partly because of the new energy regulations where units rated at less than 12 kW have to display certified performance data for heating and cooling.

2. Sales of Electronic Expansion Valves Rise 9.4% in 2012 ( News from China)
With the growing adoption of inverter air conditioners, the use of electronic expansion valves in the residential market is increasing gradually. In 2012, the ratio reached 10.7%. The residential market demand for electronic expansion valves has been increasing since 2008. The demand growth rate soared up to 80% both in 2010 and 2011. Although the sales of residential air conditioners was lackluster in 2012, the market of electronic expansion valves still maintained 2.5% growth mainly driven by the new national energy efficiency subsidy program.

4. World Heat Pump Market Forecast to Grow 29.2% by 2020
Fuji-Keizai, a general marketing research company, has published the results of its research on the world market for air conditioning equipment, residential water heaters, and other related equipment utilizing heat pump technologies. The company cited markets for residential heat pump water heaters and multi-type air conditioners as noteworthy. It forecasts that the residential heat pump water heater market will expand to ¥196.6 billion (about US$ 2 billion) in 2020, up 29.2% over 2012. Multi-type air conditioners can connect more than two indoor units to a single outdoor unit. As such, they are mainly designed for offices and store buildings. It is forecast that the  multi-type air conditioner market in 2020 will expand to ¥3,985.3 billion (US$ 40.9 billion), up 12% over 2012.

5. Central AC Market Facing Difficult Times (News from India)
The market for central chilled water air conditioning systems, commonly installed in airports, metro rail stations, hotels, hospitals, software parks and office towers, is facing tough times for several reasons. There is a marked slowdown in government infrastructure projects and investments by private enterprise due to political uncertainties and the fact that elections for a new central government will be taking place in 2014. The year 2011-2012 was a very bad year and 2012-2013 was just a little better. The current year 2013-2014 is expected to be as bad, if not worse than last year.
