1. Central AC Market Rebounds in China
The sales of centrifugal and screw chiller market in China began to increase in the second half of 2012. Insiders estimate that 2013 will see a 15% growth. The market is proving attractive to international manufacturers, and the top four U.S. manufacturers all attended the CHR 2013.

2. Climate World 2013 in Russia: Energy Efficiency Focused
The 9th Climate World 2013, the largest exhibition of HVAC&R in Eastern Europe took place in Moscow from March 11 to 14, and saw a record number of participants, 387 companies from 28 countries. The exhibition saw continued growth of interest for the energy efficiency.

3. Samsung VRF Stepping Up Efforts to U.S. Market
Samsung recently signed a collaborative agreement with Trane to supply commercial VRFs to the U.S. market. After the cooperation in the U.S. market, both companies also plan to work collaboratively in the Asian market.

4. Maldives Engages Media for HCFC Phase-out
The government of the Maldives plans to ban the import of HCFC-based equipment from July 1, 2014. Minister of State for Environment and Energy announced this at a national media training workshop on ozone and climate held in Maldivian capital Male on February 28.

5. Toshiba AC Demonstrated to be Capable of Removing PM2.5
Toshiba Home Appliances has demonstrated that its room air conditioner EDR series and EDT series can remove PM2.5 (fine particulate matter) with their ‘plasma air purifying’ function. These models have enabled the removal of PM2.5 for the first time in the industry.
