Johnson controls: Hawaii DOT
2018-05-30
The Hawaii Department of Transportation takes unprecedented steps to improve airports, highways and harbors. At 2,500 miles from the nearest landmass, the islands of Hawaii are the most remote in the world. While abundant in sun, wind and rain, the islands currently rely on fossil fuels for 90% of their energy needs, at a cost three times higher than found on mainland. The state instituted a goal to rely entirely on renewable energy by 2045.
