Panasonic Launches ATW Compressors with Strong Heating Performance

2018-04-28
In 2017, sales of air-to-water (ATW) heat pumps in China reached 680,000 units and more than RMB 9 billion (about US$1.4 billion), showing two-fold growth.

On March 7, 2018, Panasonic Wanbao Appliances Compressor (Guangzhou) held a launching ceremony for the company’s new EVI rotary compressors for ATW heat pumps, aiming at meeting increasing heating demand driven by China’s Coal-to-Electricity policy.

The new compressor models center on the 1–6 hp inverter type and the 3 and 4 hp non-inverter type. The EVI compressors largely enhance the heating capacity of heat pumps in winter compared with traditional inverter compressors. With EVI compressors, heat pump systems have rated operation at outdoor temperatures as low as –15ºC, continue to perform heating operation at outdoor temperatures down to –25ºC, and supply hot water at temperatures of up to 65°C. The compressors also feature low noise and low vibration thanks to their unique design.

The newly launched EVI rotary compressors are suitable for a wide range of products aiming at Coal-to-Electricity retrofit projects, from fan heaters to heat pump water heaters. In addition, the EVI compressors can be used for light commercial air conditioners, dehumidifiers, heat pump dryers, vehicle air conditioners, refrigeration, and freezing, among other applications.
