LU-VE Group Participates in INDEE Project in India

2018-04-24
LU-VE Group participated in the INDEE Project through LU-VE Exchangers and Spirotech India. The project has been approved by the Indian government and the Ministry of External Affairs, the Norwegian government through SINTEF, a foundation for industrial and technical research in Norway, and Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The project is part of a plan to promote the use of natural refrigerants instead of synthetic refrigerants, due to the high global warming potential (GWP) of the latter.

The INDEE pilot facility is in stalled in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras in Chennai. LU-VE Group provided SAV5 gas coolers with electronic fans for CO2 trans-critical applications and the SAV31 CO2 desuperheater. With these LU-VE products, Enex a high-efficiency refrigeration system using natural fluids, was realized, and combines ejectors from Danfoss, compressors from Dorin, and heat recovery systems from Klima.

CO2 refrigeration technology knowledge transfer is the objective of INDEE Phase 1 at IIT Madras. The pilot facility simulates an integrated supermarket unit, designed to maintain three different temperature levels to cover the cooling demand of three different applications such as freezing, refrigeration, and air conditioning.

During INDEE Phase 2, industrial demonstrators will be identified and actively support will be given during the design, commissioning, and usage stages, to disseminate the performance data of the pilot plants. These plants and the increased number of skilled refrigeration engineers will lead to a faster introduction of natural working fluids in India and reduce the current dependency on high-cost refrigerants.
