2.7 Hong Kong

Demand for room air conditioners (RACs) in Hong Kong in 2006 totaled 442,000 units and 25,000 packaged air conditioners (PACs) were sold, giving a total of 467,000 units, which is almost on par with the previous year. Due to high humidity and other reasons, AC usage rates in Hong Kong are already high. Since the majority of sales are replacements, it is predicted that demand will not grow noticeably in the future. There are no locally based manufacturers in Hong Kong and of the majority of ACs sold in Hong Kong are Japanese brands made in China and Southeast Asia.
